If you find your Twitter account doing tweets that aren’t by you, this entry is for you!
There are several things that could be wrong, first and most importantly in your Twitter account, click on settings, then click on apps. Remove everything there, unless you 100% for use know what it is, like Hootsuite. Many users make the mistake of leaving things that are indeed causing the auto tweets.
Second, change your password.
Third, do a virus scan and before you do, make sure your virus scanner updated! No point in doing a virus scan with an old pattern. It will not find anything new. MalwareBytes can be downloaded for free as well as AVG. I highly recommend both. If you have the room, I also suggest using WinPatrol.
Fourth, check everything you did allow in the app section is not hacked. Hootsuite has been hacked in the past.
If it doesn’t stop after doing all of this and you did indeed remove all the apps, changed your password and did a virus scan, you should contact Twitter so you don’t lose your account.
If a follower of yours messages you or tweets you a strange tweet with a link asking if the photo is you or if you posted it etc, do not click the link. Simply share this with them as they may not realize it’s going on, let alone how to stop it. Also might be a good idea to share this on your own blog. I get hundreds of these tweets and messages a day.
I’d also like to suggest you delete all those auto tweets. If someone reports them your account could be closed.
